Bulls Head Bookstore

The Bull’s Head has sold hundreds of Interstate Eateries. Literally hundreds. We sell it to parents on parents’ weekend. We sell it to students for Spring Break road trips. We sell it to the North Carolinians from all over the state who come in for football games. We sell it to professors who are going to Japan or Sierra Leone and want to take something that says “NC” with them as a gift for their hosts. It’s our go-to book for big festivals and small gatherings; we take it with us in stacks to sell alongside whatever else we happen to be selling and why? Because it can’t not sell. For us, it’s the perfect basic stock: humble, amusing, not-hard-on-the-pocketbook and informational.

Southern Seasons

HelloDG. - I hope you've been enjoying your summer and that's it's been full of porches and sweet tea. I've been running some year end numbers (my year runs summer inventory to summer inventory) and I want to pass some along :- We sold 1,090 different cookbook/periodical/pamphlets titles last year -and $ sales wise, you are our #2 author with sales of $1, 854. That represents 284 copies of I.E. Another local Jean Anderson, was number one.

Quail Ridge

Dear D.G., I just wanted to let you know what tremendous success we have had with the new edition of Interstate Eateries. We have sold 245 copies since it came out last summer! Every time we put it at the front counter the stacks seem to disappear. It's a great impulse buy, certainly now when so many people are taking trips, but really all year long. I myself have used it many times on the way to the beach or mountains. It's so nice to go to a local diner instead of a fast food chain, and I know if you've recommended a place, it will be good! It's also a title that you don't see at the chain stores so it helps set us apart as a store that offers something local, different and good. So, thanks for the easy sell, and keep eating and writing!

Best,

The Museum Shop N.C. Museum of History

We've only had the book a little over 3 months and have sold over 120 copies! This book is a must for every North Carolinian that travels the highways of the state plus it fits perfectly in the glove compartment for easy access to delicious food. It's great price lets you pick up several copies for friends and family. It looks to be a wonderful stocking stuffer for the holidays and a perfect gift for that someone who is hard to buy for. Learning about not only these down home eateries but the folks who run them makes this book a very enjoyable ride! All the best to you and keep on traveling!
