Lexington Barbecue
Location
I’ve eaten here so many times, I think owner Wayne Monk recognizes me when I come in. According to Charlotte Observer associate editor Jack Betts, Lexington Barbecue is “regarded by many travelers as the Mother Church of North Carolina barbecue.” Bob Garner, author of North Carolina Barbecue: Flavored by Time, says “to the faithful, all roads still lead to Lexington Barbecue.” If you have never eaten here, it should be your first stop. I usually get a chopped tray with slaw, hushpuppies, and sweet iced tea. When I leave, I’m six or seven dollars poorer and feel a million dollars better.

The one and only original. This is what made Lexington style barbecue famous and it's own style of barbecue.
Always great food.
