Ernie Starling opened his buffet restaurant in this shopping center location about 15 years ago. He had learned the restaurant and barbecue trade by working for about 13 years at the famous Bill’s in Wilson. “Well, maybe, toward the end, I was teaching them a few things, too,” Ernie Starling says, flashing up a wiry grin that tells me he means it. Don’t miss the big buffet Ernie serves, stocked with first-rate biscuits, fatback, and turnip greens. Seafood is available on Friday and Saturday nights.
Hrs: Mon.-Thurs., 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Fri.-Sat., 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m and 4 p.m.-9 p.m.
